Client / Partner: Google Developers Group (GDG) Lagos, Flutterwave, InstaDeep, Decagon Institute
Scope: 2,500+ attendees per edition, 5 consecutive years · Lagos
Our Role: Lead Organiser, programme design, speakers, sponsors, full event logistics
DevFest Lagos is the flagship annual gathering of the Google Developers Group Lagos community and, by 2019, one of the most anticipated developer events on the African continent. Kelvin anchored the organising team across three consecutive editions, not as a one-time contributor, but as the continuity behind an event that had to get better every year.
The 2019 edition set the standard. With 2,500+ developers and tech professionals in attendance, it was Africa’s largest developer event that year. Kelvin led the programme design, four concurrent technical tracks spanning Machine Learning, Web, Android, Cloud, and Personal Development, and opened the conference with a Women Techmakers Breakfast for the first 200 women registered, featuring Google West Africa Director Juliet Ehimuan and engineers from Andela and Microsoft. Seven major sponsors including Flutterwave and InstaDeep were sourced, managed, and integrated into the event experience. The event received wide coverage from Techpoint and multiple Nigerian tech publications.
Kelvin returned to lead the organising team for the next 4 editions, maintaining operational continuity and the quality standard that the event had built a reputation around, no small task given the pivot required for the 2020 edition in a pandemic year.
